BJP's key ally TDP today asked opposition parties to "cooperate" in running Parliament, saying the outcome on the issue concerning External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj can be decided after discussion.
"External Affairs Minister wants to come and give the statement and the Leader of House wants to allow discussion and debate. But opposition parties are not allowing debate itself. After the debate, we can decide what is the outcome. Our party views that this is not the way to run Parliament," senior TDP leader and Minister of State for Science and Technology Y S Chowdary told reporters here.
"Opposition parties should cooperate and see that Parliament is running properly," he said.
Stressing that issues cannot be resolved unless it is "debated and deliberated", he said that state issues must be resolved in Legislative Assemblies, apparently referring to the Vyapam scam of Madhya Pradesh.
"All our MPs are extremely worried about the way the House is being run. Unless we debate and deliberate we cannot resolve the issues... State subjects have to be resolved at the state level. State Assemblies are there (for that)," he said.
Chowdary's statement comes as deadlock prevailed in Parliament for the third consecitive day with opposition aggressively pressing for ouster of Sushma and Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam, demands which the government has rejected.
Earlier in the day, TDP MPs participated in a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Parliament premises demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh.
