According to police, the child, identified as the 11-year- old Shakib Khan, is a student at the Agarwal Modern Senior Secondary School in the city.
The boy had been two days back expelled by the teacher in question from class for playing inside the classroom and, according to his parents, was not allowed to join his classmates even after repeatedly apologising for the incident.
According to the complaint filed by the boy's parents', today, seeing that the boy had taken his seat in the classroom, the teacher allegedly flew into a rage and gave him a severe thrashing.
Meanwhile, a school official, Surendra Agarwal, said that the charges levelled by the boy's parents were baseless and no such incident had taken place at the school.
Police said they would take any action in the case only after a proper investigation.
