Nagaland Minister for School Education, Yitachu, expressed concern that in Nagaland the primary level has been neglected for quite long.
He said that if the primary level is neglected, the future of the students cannot be bright and the state in general will not be able to progress.
Therefore, he said, it is time that primary level education should be given the prime concern.
The minister said this while participating in the main celebration organised by School Education Department here.
The Minister also appealed to the students, who had gathered to greet their teachers, to focus on their studies to be a successful and disciplined citizen and that it would be the greatest gift for their teachers.
Commissioner and Secretary of the Department, F P Solo said that quality education can be imparted only by well trained and qualified teachers.
In this context, he said that the department has come out with a policy for training the untrained government teachers. He also appealed to the management of private schools to recruit only trained candidates as teachers and make arrangement for existing untrained teachers.
Taking the opportunity, Sekhose reminded the state government about its promise made during Teachers Day 2014 that private schools would be provided with Mathematics and Science teachers, which is yet to be fulfilled.
Marking the occasion, altogether 24 teachers, including segven private school teachers, were honoured with state level award at a function. They received citation and cash award while the state government also extended financial support to seven teachers undergoing serious treatment.
