Hurt over being scolded by his mother, a 9th class student allegedly committed suicide here by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his home in Kaulagarh area of the city, police said today.
15-year-old Samarjit, a student of Central School, was watching TV at home yesterday when he was scolded by his mother who asked him to concentrate on his studies as his examinations were on, they said.
The boy was hurt so much by his mother's rebuke that he shut himself in a room. When he did not come out for too long, family members broke into the room and found him hanging from the ceiling fan, police said.
He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. No suicide note has been recovered from the scene, they said.
