The 17-year-old boy, identified as Neeraj, was found hanging in his house in the morning by his family members.
According to the police, family members of the boy alleged he was threatened by one of his friends as he had caused some damage to his scooty while driving it on Tuesday.
"After the accident, Neeraj's friend allegedly asked him to pay for the damage, failing which he will tell Neeraj's parents about the incident," a police official said.
"It seems that the boy committed suicide as he was not in a position to pay for the damage and was scared about the consequences. No suicide note has been recovered from the crime scene. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered," he said.
