Sangeeta attempted to kill herself yesterday after being repeatedly harassed by Manjit (28), the constable who is a resident of Sirodhan village, SP (City), Ram Mohan Singh, said.
The girl was admitted to a hospital in serious condition by her parents, Singh said, adding, her condition is now stated to be stable.
Manjit threatened to implicate Sangeeta's younger brother in a false case if she told anyone about him following which she took the extreme step yesterday, the SP said.
Manjit is absconding, the SP added.
