Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said the state government will purchase share of the Central government in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
He also appealed to people to bear with ongoing power cuts as the state is building necessary infrastructure for strengthening power transmission.
"The Centre has 49 per cent share in the prestigious Singareni Collieries Company, which exists in Telangana. We will purchase this share...I am committed to make Singareni a great company," Rao told reporters after launching Karimnagar City Renovation (KCR) programme here.
On erratic power supply in Telangana, the Chief Minister said that power cut is inevitable and the situation is likely to continue for two-three years more.
"Telangana government has tried to purchase electricity from Chhattisgarh but it may take a year to lay poles and line," he said.
While appealing to people to make use of solar rooftop panels, Rao said that a solar power plant with the capacity of 1000 MW will be commissioned to meet the power needs of Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts.
He said that Telangana Rural Drinking Grid will be constituted to do away with the water scarcity, at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
"For this, 160 TMC water is needed, out of which 80 TMC each from Krishna and Godavari rivers will be utilised. Nearly, one lakh km of pipeline will be laid connecting various districts in Telangana. A similar project was undertaken by Gujarat. The public representatives and officials would visit Gujarat state soon to study the project," he said.
He also assured health cards to working journalists.
