The MoU was signed by Harpreet Singh, Secretary Information Technology Government of Telangana and Birendra Raj Dutt CEO and CTO PhotonIC Corporation, Los Angeles, California, United States, a state government release said.
Photonics is a branch of technology concerned with properties and transmission of photons such as in fibre optics.
The Government of Telangana and PhotonIC agreed to collaborate in setting-up an ecosystem to facilitate the institutionalisation of all processes and concepts related to photonics, the release said.
"They have also agreed to evolve, test and produce the next generation chips and products by using the technology of Silicon Photonics and compound semi-conductor photonics. Both of them also agreed to work in tandem in evolving a strategy to promote photonics in Hyderabad," it said.
