Telangana IT minister eyes big ticket investments during US visit

K T Rama Rao to meet Google officials, will also focus in attracting investments into pharma, defence and aerospace

Telangana IT Minister K T expects to sign agreements envisaging "big ticket investments" into the new state during his two-week visit to the US.

"Yes. I would not like to disclose them (big ticket investments) right now. Yes, they are expected," Rao told PTI here as he prepared to leave for USA tomorrow.

On being asked about a reported proposal by internet giant Google to set up its own campus here, he said, "Sure. I will be meeting Google (officials) in the US. Definitely, you will hear something on this."

According to Telangana Information Technology department officials during his visit, Rao would be meeting several industry leaders and potential investors.

The minister will attend a series of meetings in Washington DC, New York, Pittsburg, Dallas and Bay Area. He will also attend events organised by Telangana diaspora in New Jersey, Dallas and Bay Area.

During his interactions and meetings with potential investors, Rao would highlight the advantages of investing in Hyderabad and Telangana. He would also explain about various provisions in the new industrial policy.

The main focus of the trip would be on attracting investments into IT, electronics, pharma, defence and aerospace industries.

IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan would be accompanying the minister during this visit.
