Telangana officials asked to prepare database on SC population

Telangana Chief Secretary S K Joshi today asked officials to prepare a database concerning the 54 lakh scheduled castes population in the state for better implementation of welfare schemes.

Joshi, who held a meeting on SC development department, told officials to integrate the data available with Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty and others with the database to implement schemes as per people's needs, a state government release said.

The Kalyana Lakshmi scheme (providing financial assistance to women at the time of marriage) benefited 88,786 women to the tune of Rs 504 crore since 2014, it said.
