Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers have also been represented on the matter, the IT and mines minister said in reply to a query in the Question Hour.
It has been mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act, 2014 that the Centre shall take all necessary measures for establishment of an integrated steel plant by Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), he said.
The government is conducting a feasibility study elsewhere in the state as well for setting up the plant, he said.
The government would like to have either a new railway line or a slurry pipeline for transportation of iron ore from Chhattisgarh to the state, Rao said.
