Telangana seeks drought relief funds from Centre

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali today met Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and submitted a memorandum seeking financial assistant to drought-hit districts in the state.
The state has declared drought in seven out of 10 districts due to deficit southwest monsoon that affected agriculture crops and livestock during the kharif season.
"Telangana submitted a memorandum under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) today," Union Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.
In the meeting, Singh said that a central team would be sent shortly to assess the drought situation in the state.
He informed that second installment of Rs 102.5 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and Rs 46 crore funds under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichai Yojana was released today.
He also said Telangana Horticulture University would be inaugurated on January 7 in Hyderabad.
