Temperatures dip in Punjab, Haryana; rains lash Amritsar

Amritsar experienced heavy showers as mercury recorded below-normal temperatures at several places in Punjab and Haryana today.
A total of 17 mm rainfall was recorded in Amritsar in Punjab which was lashed by heavy rains in the last 24 hours. The city, however, recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.
Other parts of Punjab did not record any rainfall as Patiala and Ludhiana recorded below-normal maximums of 38.1 degrees Celsius and 37.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to the MeT report, Chandigarh registered a high of 37.8 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, mercury touched a high of 38 degrees Celsius in Ambala while Hisar's maximum settled at 36 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.

Bhiwani recorded a maximum of 34.6 degrees Celsius, down three notches, while Narnaul's high settled at 32.7 degrees Celsius, down six degrees.
The MeT in its forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places two states over the next two days.
