The incident took place last night when the play "Hai Ram Nathuram" was being performed on stage and some suspected NCP activists started shouting slogans as part of their protest against the recital, they said.
The Naupada Police whisked away the miscreants, when they refused to budge and continued with their protest as the main actor Sharad Ponkshe appeared on stage.
The play, however went on smoothly after all the protesters were taken into custody.
They were later let off after a warning, police said.
