Environment research body TERI today said it has signed an agreement with two global research institutes - FNI and NTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group - for exchange of knowledge and cooperation on issues related to climate change.
The three institutes will work together to promote research and development, including policy analysis in the areas of green growth, climate change, sustainable energy, natural resource management, capacity building and knowledge exchange, it said.
"The partnership assumes significance because effective implementation of the emerging Post-2015 Development Agenda and Post-2015 Climate Agenda will require innovation, new partnerships, knowledge-sharing and implementation," the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) said in a statement.
As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the three institutes have identified cooperation in nine areas such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, low carbon strategies and global policy advocacy among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Norway-based Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI) associate fellow Arne Walther said: "To initiate our cooperation, we will seek to carry out a study on low carbon development and climate change policies in India and China with a view to raise global understanding of both their achievements and challenges these major nations face."
Beijing-based INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group Chief Executive Officer Murray C Simpson said that the "strong partnership will result in increased resilience and reduce vulnerability for thousands of people, communities, economies and environments for hundreds of countries across the world.
