"He was impressed by Jihadi thoughts while watching some video clips on Facebook and started chatting (online) on the topic," an official of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad said here.
Shah was arrested from Mumbra in neighbouring Thane in a joint operation of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh ATS as a part of a multi-agency nationwide crack-down on April 20. Three others were arrested from Punjab, UP and Bihar.
Shah had come to Mumbra from Bijnour in UP for a job three months ago, the ATS officer added.
Investigation also revealed that Shah had worked in Saudi Arabia in two stints. First he worked as a plumber in Damam for two years and then at "Habab in Makkah" in 2015, the official added.
While in Saudi, he was arrested by local police in a passport-related case and jailed for 18 days. He was then deported to India.
Currently he is in the custody of UP police.
