Manzar Imam, a suspect in a couple of terror blasts in the country, was arrested at Kanke in Ranchi district, police said today.
A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Ranchi Police arrested him last night, Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh said here.
He, however, refused to specify on which terror incident Imam has been nabbed by the NIA.
Earlier, Superintendent of Police (City) Vipul Shukla said the NIA had arrested Imam in connection with the twin blasts in Hyderabad's Dilsukhnagar that had left 16 people dead.
Later the agency and the police produced him before the Judicial Magistrate Court today and got permission to take Imam in five-day transit-remand, another senior police officer said, adding Imam would be taken to Eranakulam in Kerala for interrogation in a bomb blast case.
Assisted by the Ranchi Police, the NIA team had nabbed Imam at Kanke last night while he was going to his house at Bariatu in the state capital, the officer said.
The NIA and the Anti-Terrorism Squad have been searching for Imam for the last two years in connection with bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and Kerala and came to Ranchi several times looking for him in the past.
Imam's relatives, who gathered at the court, demanded that the police should let them meet him once.
