Lauding the tough message from British Prime Minister David Cameron to Sri Lanka, DMK chief Karunanidhi-led Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) today urged the Centre to pass a resolution in the upcoming Parliament session pressing for an international probe into the alleged war crimes in that country.
Chaired by Karunanidhi, the meeting, held a day after the Commonwealth Summit ended in Colombo, supported Cameron's demand that Sri Lanka complete investigation into the alleged war crimes and human rights violations by March next.
TESO in one of the resolutions adopted in a meeting here came in support of Cameron's statement, which warned Sri Lanka that his country would be forced to call for a transparent and independent international investigation, in the event of the island nation failing to take up the matter.
Pouring out its anger on India's participation in the summit showing "utter disregard" to demands from Tamil Nadu for "complete boycott," the pro-Eelam outfit termed the Salman Khurshid-led delegation's attendance as "adding insult to the injury."
Heaping praises on Cameron for the concern displayed towards ethnic Tamils in Sri Lanka and to their welfare, the meeting slammed the Centre stating, "It cannot justify the participation of Salman Khurshid on any ground."
Instead of bringing the Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa under censure for human rights violation, the CHOGM forum seemed to have gone all out to protect the island head, the resolution contended.
TESO also reiterated the demand for the 13th Constitutional amendment to ensure devolution of powers to Northern and Eastern provinces, where ethnic Tamils are in majority.
