Hit 2004 horror film 'The Grudge', which was directed by Takashi Shimazu is heading for a reboot.
Ghost House Pictures and Good Universe production are working on a project to remake the horror story with the script being drafted by Jeff Buhler, who directed 'The Midnight Meat Train', reported Ace Showbiz.
Sam Raimi, who produced the first three films in the franchise, has been tapped to produce the project alongwith Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise from the Japan production.
The executive producers will be Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane.
The previous sequels in the franchise, 'The Grudge 2' and 'The Grudge 3' released in 2006 and 2009 respectively.
The horror series is based on the Japanese film series, 'Ju-On', which was created by Shimizu.
