Theft at veteran footballer Surajit Sengupta's ancestral home

Burglars took away valuables and some medals from the ancestral house of veteran footballer Surajit Sengupta at Chinsurah in Hooghly district today, police said.
Unidentified men cut the grill of the empty house, broke open the almirah locker and took away some of the medals and jewelleries kept inside in the afternoon.
The theft was discovered by Sengupta's elder brother and sister-in-law when they returned home in the evening, the police said.
The total loss was being ascertained.
Sengupta's elder brother's family presently lived in the house where the star footballer of the '80s had spent his childhood.
The family members said Sengupta, who lives in Kolkata, has been informed about the incident.
