A thick blanket of fog disrupted normal life at several places in Punjab and Haryana for the third consecutive day today, even though the minimum temperatures hovered close to normal levels.
In Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, fog was heavy in the southern parts of the City, with Airport here recording less than 50 metres visibility early morning, a MeT Department official said.
Visibility levels also dropped below 50 metres in the morning as thick fog enveloped Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Hisar, Karnal and Ambala, he said.
Thick fog in this region has been leading to traffic jams and atleast 10 people have died in various fog-related accidents in the two neighbouring states during the past three days.
Fog has also disrupted normal schedule of flights while many trains were reported to be running late.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degree Celsius.
Ludhiana settled at a temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius while Patiala recorded minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius. Amritsar registered a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, Hisar recorded a low of 8 degrees Celsius while Ambala's minimum temperature settled at 9.2 degrees Celsius.
Karnal, Narnaul and Bhiwani recorded respective minimum temperatures of 9.2 degrees Celsius, 8 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius.
