Thieves intended to loot the money but when they failed in breaching it they took away the entire ATM machine which contained Rs 9.98 lakh, Sadar Police station official under Jalandhar Police Commissionerate said.
Sources said neither the ATM cabin was manned by any guard and nor it had CCTV camera installed.
Police are investigating the case but nobody has been arrested as of now.
In a similar incident on September 26 unidentified thieves had uprooted a PNB ATM from the same area.
