The third e-auctioning to sell six lakh tonnes of iron ore lying at Goa's port and jetties would be held on May 10, a senior mines official said today.
"The e-auctioning of six lakh tonnes of the ore which is lying at jetties and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) would be e-auctioned on May 10," state director of mines and geology Prasanna Acharya said here.
The department issued the notification for the same today, giving 12 days time to the bidders to put in their claims for e-auctioning.
The state had already e-auctioned 1.61 million tonnes of ore on February 17 and March 5, collecting revenue of Rs 260.68 crore.
The Supreme Court had allowed e-auctioning of the ore while the case related to illegal mining was on.
The final judgement has said the collections from the e-auctioning should go to the state treasury.
The auctioning has been conducted through Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC) and is being monitored by a SC constituted committee headed by U V Singh.
State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had recently said that the economic activity in the mining belt would resume following e-auctioning of ore, which will have to be exported.
According to the estimates, there is around 15 million tonnes of the ore lying at various places including jetties and MPT, which was on its way to be exported before the SC ordered suspension of the mining activity in the state.
