"The Yoga functions are being opposed by people who are ignorant. They are opposing just for the sake of doing so. I pray to the God to give them wisdom," Vijayvargiya told reporters after taking part in a function to mark the first International Yoga Day at APTC ground here.
He said Yoga is not linked to a particular religion or a special religion and it is a traditional way for all round development of humans.
"There was no politics at functions on the eve. But with Digvijay it is the other way round," Vijayvargiya, who is also the state urban administration minister, said.
Over the opposition to Yoga by fundamentalists in Pakistan, he said it was due to political reasons, adding that Yoga gurus Ramdev and Shri Shri Ravishankar have a large number of disciples who practice Yoga in Pakistan.
