Lal, 88, died of age-related ailments yesterday morning.
Earlier today, addressing a gathering at Lal's native village Bagasara in Amreli district, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said, "For over six decades, Lal made a name for himself through the art of magic...I salute K Lal who has made not only Gujarat but even India proud. His work is known across several countries, which speaks volumes about his art."
The legendary magician was diagnosed with brain cancer a year ago and had undergone chemotherapy.
Lal, who staged a record 22,749 shows in his career, was known for tricks such as bringing Mahatma Gandhi to 'life' on stage and making famous historical personalities 'talk' to the audience.
