Sanjay Ghosh of Greenfield City in Mahestala, Saran Kumar Maiti of Anandapur and Siddhanth Singh of Kestopur were arrested for cheating Umesh Chanda who has an IT company in New York and a branch office in Punjab's Mohali, a senior police officer of Kolkata Police said.
Ghosh, who posed as an employee of an IT firm, promised Chanda with consultancy service to set up branches of his New York-based company in Kolkata and across India and a transaction of USD 15,600 (Rs 10.5 lakh) took place last July, he said.
"A total of USD 34,090 (around Rs 22 lakh) were involved in the duping process by the three. We have seized laptops, mobile phones and other documents and an investigation under appropriate IT Act has been started," he said.
