Three-day National Conf on Sanskrit in Thane from tomorrow

Around 40 renowned Sanskrit scholars from all over India will participate in a three-day meet here starting tomorrow to deliberate on the present state of the ancient language and measures to preserve it.
According to the organisers, Omkar Seva Trust and Bhagwan Parshuram Sena, this is the first ever National Conference on Sanskrit.
It will not only discuss the present state of the language but will also deliberate on ways to spread it throughout the country, while developing an interest among youths influenced by western culture, said All India President of the Bhagwan Parshuram Sena, Om Prakash Sharma, Aacharya Awanish Pandey, Secretary of the Sena, and Chief of the Omkar Trust, Pandit Mahaveer Prasad Painuly.

"Sanskrit is an ancient language enriched and initiated in India. It is said that it was used by Gods, and is hence called 'Devbhasha'. Most of the prominent Vedas and Puranas are drafted in Sanskrit containing a rich source of wisdom and knowledge. Currently, this language is in a sorry state in India. The dominance of the English language has led Sanskrit to its weakened state," they said.
Delegates of Chaturveda Sanskrit Prachaar Sansthanam, Varanasi, will participate along with the Sanskrit scholars to throw light on its importance and pitch for its inclusion in academic curriculum.
The Sanskrit scholars who will participate in the conference include Dr Hariprasad Adhikari, Sampoornanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi; Dr Devnarayan Sharma BHU-Varanasi; Prof Shivprakash Dwivedi, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Satna; Dr Chandrakant Shukla, National P.G College in UP; Praveen Pandey, DAV Public School in Jharkhand and Dr. Dineshchandra Bhardwaj, Uttarakhand.

At least five girls from Varanasi will also participate in the meet by presenting before the delegates ways to tackle the present situation and propagate Sanskrit.
