Three held for abetting suicide of woman raped by their friend

Three youths were today arrested in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana on charge of abetment of suicide of a 22-year-old married woman who was last month allegedly "raped" by one of their friends, police said.
Three accused persons Venkatesh, Ramu and Mastan (all aged around 28) were arrested and sent to judicial custody, they said.
"The victim, who was allegedly raped by one Swamy, on August 24 had subsequently "committed suicide" in the night by setting herself ablaze. Swamy was arrested on August 28," a senior police officer said.
During the course of investigation, three friends of Swamy were today arrested, a police officer attached to Kollapur Police Station said. Police had registered a case on charge of rape, abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation in connection with the incident under relevant sections of IPC.
