Three persons were arrested for allegedly carrying 2.80 kg opium which was seized from their car on Indore-Ujjain road in Madhya Pradesh, police said today.
The estimated cost of the contraband is around Rs 12 lakh in the international market, a police officer said.
On a tip off, police intercepted a car on Indore-Ujjain road on the intervening night of May 14 and May 15 and recovered the opium, he said.
The accused are identified as Saudan Singh, who hails from Rajasthan, and Kamal Singh and Mahendra Singh who come from Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
Further investigation is underway.
