The incident took place in the wee hours when the driver of the vehicle lost control and mowed down Rajkumar Saroj (22), Vijay Lakshmi (45) and Chinku (15). They were killed on the spot, Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Srivastav said.
The driver managed to flee from the spot, whereas angry villagers damaged the SUV, he said, adding that three passengers were also injured.
The angry mob pelted stones at the police and set ablaze the motorcycle of a constable.
