The three persons, on the way from Gunchitara to Titlagarh town, were crossing the level crossing when their bike was hit by Rayagada-bound Tapaswini Express. They died on the spot, they said.
The deceased were identified as Niranjan Sahu of Gunchitara village, his wife Nilendri Sahu and their niece Puja Sahu, they added.
Tension prevailed in the area for some time after the mishap as locals staged a protest who have been demanding construction of a railway over bridge in the area for a long time, police said.
