Three men have been sentenced to seven years jail term, which they have already undergone, by a Delhi court for committing dacoity in a house.
Additional Sessions Judge Rajeev Bansal awarded the jail term to Delhi resident Rafikul Islam and Bangladesh residents Mohd Dalim and Mohd Nazrul Khan after they pleaded guilty of committing robbery in the house of one Narender Singh Atwal.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 200 on each of them, saying that the convicts came from poorest of poor families.
The other accused Mohd Mezan and Mohd Akash claimed to be juveniles and were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
"Taking an overall view of the matter, the accused persons are sentenced to undergo sentence of the period already undergone by them and fine of Rs 100 each for the offence under section 395 (dacoity) of IPC, in default of which, (they will) suffer simple imprisonment for one week," the court said.
"For the offence under section 412 (dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of a dacoity) of IPC, all the accused persons are sentenced to the period already undergone by them and fine of Rs 100 each, in default of which, (they will) suffer simple imprisonment for one week," it said.
According to the prosecution, on the night of July 17, 2007, Rafikul, Dalim and Nazrul entered Narender's house in Vasant Kunj and tied his hands and feet and asked for his wallet.
They had also tied his driver Dhananjay and other servants and took away his mobile, licenced pistol, jewellery and cash of Rs 85,000, it said.
While committing the robbery, two of them were carrying country-made pistols and other two were carrying knives, it added.
