Three stone crushers sealed in Jammu

Three stone crushers were today sealed here for operating illegally in Tawi river bed, an official spokesman said.

He said a team of the Geology and Mining Department sealed the crushers in the presence of a magistrate.

The stone crushers were extracting minor minerals during odd hours in the river bed, which is completely banned by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, the spokesman said.

He said to curb illegal mining, the authorities have installed CCTV cameras at various locations along the river.

Earlier, eight unauthorised stone crushers were sealed for operating illegally in Tawi river bed.
