Three students among 5 held for drug peddling

Five persons, including three students, were arrested for allegedly transporting about 40 kgs of dry ganja at Konam area under Cheedikada mandal in the district today.
Rs 22,000 in cash and four mobile phones were also seized from the smugglers, police said.
Sub-Inspector G Apparao said, the leader of this drug peddling racket lured the students for procuring and smuggling of the contraband by offering them huge amounts.
The gang had procured the contraband from parts of Paderu area in Vizag and reached Konam area along with the weed through the forest route to evade the police.
Acting on a tip-off that the gang was transporting the contraband from Konam to Anakapalle and later to Tamil Nadu, the police searched the area and arrested five persons.
