The five boys, students of class X and XII - the results of which were announced two days back - went to a temple in Asah village.
They later decided to take a dip in Chambal river near the temple where they got trapped in deep water and drowned, police said.
Morena Collector NBS Rajput reached the spot along with divers to search the boys.
Three bodies have been fished out from the river so far, police said adding that the deceased were identified as Gaurav Tomar, Rahul Gurjar and Bhura Gurjar.
The victims were in the age group of 14-17 years.
Ambah's Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) M L Sisodia said three of the victims were from Bhaktapura village and two from Asah.
