According to a senior government official, the action against the sub-registrars of Geeta Colony, Preet Vihar and Kapashera was taken after their offices were put under surveillance following complaints of corruption.
"It was found that agents and touts were unauthorisedly taking finger print impressions and signatures of sellers and purchasers on the registry papers outside registration offices despite clear rules that this work can only be done by officials authorised by the sub-registrar," the official said.
"The government has taken a serious view of the entire matter and placed under suspension these three gazetted officers. Further course of action will be decided after the submission of the detailed inquiry report by the Vigilance Directorate," official said.
The official said that action is also being taken against other employees who were found to be in touch with touts.
The Delhi government has warned officials, particularly those performing duties of direct dealing with the public, against indulging in corrupt practices since policy of zero tolerance against corruption will be strictly implemented and the guilty will not be spared.
