The trio were arrested near the Khallikote railway station last night during raids conducted by a special squad of the GRP.
Three swords, a sharp weapon, a mobile phone set and three train tickets in the Hirakhand Express were seized from the accused persons, said Inspector-in-charge, GRP (Berhampur) Santosh Kumar Bahinipati.
Other three members of the gang escaped, he said.
The gang used to target train passengers which run in night hours, particularly from Khallikote to Chhatrapur area in Ganjam district. The gang members were arrested when they were preparing to loot the passengers in Bhubaneswar-Jagadalapur Hirakhanda Express, he said.
