A man was seriously injured when
a tiger attacked him at Nadawan village today, close to the buffer zone of the Badhavgarh National Park, around 50 km from here, Forest department officials said.
Narmada Dahiya (40) along with three other farmers, were working in agriculture fields, saw the big cat resting at a distance and attempted to shoo it off, when it attacked them, Katni District Forest Officer (DFO) K K Bhardwaj told PTI.
The tiger attacked Dahiya, while his colleagues managed to escape by climbing a nearby tree, the DFO said.
Dahiya was admitted to the primary health centre of Barhi area in a critical condition from where he is on his way to the district hospital for better treatment, a police official said.
The forest department officials reached the spot and helped the three farmers descend from the tree.
The tiger has been on the prowl in the villages in the buffer zone of the park and has killed three cattle since a week, villagers said.
