A team of workers from hosiery unit at Tirupur, who visited Bahvanisagar and Thengumarahata forests had noticed the tiger and informed to the Forest Department officials.
The officials said locals had noticed movement of a tigger in Bhavanisagar about three weeks before.
Forest officials have advised local people not to venture into the deep forests for tending cattle.
They also advised two-wheeler riders not to travel on the Thimbam ghat road, close to the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve forest area, after 7 p.M.
The officials said the carcass of a 15-year-old female elephant in Vilamundy forests in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve yesterday.
