Workers of the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP clashed in Purba Midnapore district on Saturday, police said.

The clash at Benadiha village under Narayangarh police station followed an altercation between two supporters of the rival parties over some local issue.

Both the sides claimed that several of their supporters were injured in the clash but none was taken to hospital.

Both the BJP and the TMC lodged complaints to the police against each other, police said.

Police picket was posted in the village as tension prevailed in the area.
