expelled a gram panchyat member of North 24-Parganas district accused of harbouring criminals responsible for the killing of a youth who protested against liquour mafia last year.
"We have expelled Tushar Majumdar from the party. He was accused to being involved in illegal things. We don't want such people to be in the TMC as it tarnishes the party's image," state food supplies minister and TMC's North 24-Parganas district president Jyotipriyo Mullick said.
A college student, Sourav Chowdhury, was brutally murdered last year at Bamungachi in North 24-Parganas district for protesting against liquour mafia headed by a local goon Shyamal Karmakar.
Sourav's brother Sandip had alleged that TMC leader and village Panchayat member Tushar Majumdar was hand in gloves with the miscreants.
