TMC to hold rallies in all blocks of Bengal

In a bid to counter Left Front's rally from Singur to Salboni, Trinamool Congress leadership has decided to conduct rallies in all blocks of West Bengal from January 25 to 28.
"We have decided to conduct rallies in each and every block of West Bengal from January 25 to 28. In those rallies, we will tell people about the achievements of the four-and-a-half-year-old TMC government in the state. We will tell about the peace process in Junglemahal, the peace process in Darjeeling," a senior TMC leader said.
"All the district presidents have been communicated in this matter. Our workers will carry placards which will have list of developmental work that our government has done," he said.

According to TMC sources, the rally is a counter political move against CPI(M)-led Left Front's week-long procession from Singur to Salboni with a demand for industrialisation in the state and jobs for the unemployed youth.

State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said during their procession in every block of the state, TMC would showcase various development works done by the Mamata Banerjee-government during the last four-and-a-half years.

The ruling TMC would also highlight all development activities in each of the districts, Hakim said.
Strongly criticising CPI(M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra for describing the TMC government as a "worthless one", Hakim said, "Those who are worthless find everything worthless."

"Why the erstwhile LF government failed to install steel plant at Salboni," he asked, adding that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself took keen interest in it and was trying to convince the Jindals to set up factories in the state.
"What could not be done in 34 years is difficult to do overnight," he said.
"No steps had been taken by the then Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee after the killing of Tapasi Malik at Singur," Hakim regretted.
The minister was confident that the TMC would do much better in the upcoming Assembly elections than what it did in 2011.
Hakim also took a dig at Congress leader Manas Bhuniya, saying the Manmohan Singh-government at the Centre had also shown total non-cooperation with the TMC government in the state in waiving debts or extending special economic packages to the state government.
