TMC wants all-India debate about powers, jurisdiction of EC

Days after conclusion of the West Bengal Assembly elections under the strict vigil of the Election Commission, the ruling Trinamool Congress today said it wants a debate throughout the country about the powers and jurisdiction of the poll panel.
A senior TMC leader said on condition of anonymity that the party is also "pondering over the idea of moving into a larger and bigger platform to seek justice over the atrocities committed on us by a section of Election Commission during the Assembly polls."
"We would like to have a debate over the powers and jurisdiction of Election Commission. How can we say that the Election Commission works impartially as there has been instances of an Election Commissioner getting a Rajya Sabha ticket after retirement from service?" the leader asked.
