TN Assembly witnesses uproar, DMK MLAs evicted

The Tamil Nadu Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes during heated exchange of words between State Ministers and MLAs of DMDK and when DMK members were evicted from the House.
Trouble started after DMDK member Arun Subramanian, who switched loyalties to AIADMK last year, praised former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, saying the house has "lost its lustre" without her presence, leading to DMK and DMDK members passing some comments.
Arun said Jayalalithaa would be CM again amid loud thumping of desks by treasury benches, led by Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
Handloom Minister S Gokula Indira said DMK MLA Periyakaruppan was speaking out of frustration and made a remark about DMDK. A war of words ensued between DMDK MLAs and the Minister and Leader of the House Natham Viswanathan. The remark was expunged by Speaker P Dhanapal.

Later, initiating the motion of thanks to the Governor's Address, Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman referred to AIADMK's win in Srirangam, to which DMK MLA J Anbazhagan said he should also speak on the outcome of bypolls since 2006.
This was opposed by treasury benches and Housing Minister R Vaithilingam sought to know "if Satan can quote scriptures."

The Deputy Speaker Jayaraman referred to Anbazhagan as a "buffoon" prompting angry DMK MLAs up on their feet, demanding that it be expunged. Jayaraman also made a remark about the DMK on the Sri Lanka issue.
Speaker P Dhanapal referred to a previous instance when DMK member Duraimurgan had used the same word and said there was nothing unparliamentary about it.

DMK members then rushed to the Speaker's chair and reiterated their demand, following which he ordered their eviction as his appeal to them to resume their seats went unheeded.
Earlier, DMK members staged a walkout after Speaker Dhanapal told Stalin that issues he wanted to raise could be done during the discussion on the Governor's Address and disallowed his plea to raise it.
The DMK members resumed their seats later, only to be evicted after the furore.
