Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has approved expansion of drinking water schemes in the municipalities of Arani, Periakulam, Tindivanam and Tiruvanthipuram under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) at a total estimate of Rs 117.69 crore.
Similarly, a German-funded drinking water expansion project will be implemented in Tirunelveli at Rs 230 crore with an annual maintenance of Rs 11.10 crore, an official release here said.
Under the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Programme, Jayalalithaa has accorded administrative sanction for a project involving taking water from a proposed reservoir near Chennai to Poondi storage facility, at an estimated Rs 93.77 crore.
