TN fishermen remanded till February 3

A Sri Lankan court today remanded 25 Tamil Nadu fishermen, arrested by the Lankan navy, to custody till February 3.
Officials here said Oorkaval court Judge Mahendra Raja remanded the fishermen from Rameswaram and Mandapam after they were arrested yesterday along with their six trawlers.
The Lankan Navy took the fishermen to Kankesanthurai in Jaffna district and then handed them over to police for formal arrest, sources here said.
The arrest has come at a time when fishermen-level talks between the two countries are scheduled to be held here on January 27.
