TN govt hands over Rs 10 cr to South Indian Film Chamber

The Tamil Nadu government today handed over a cheque of Rs 10 crore to members of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce as part of its contribution towards staging the centenary celebrations of Indian cinema in the city.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa handed over the cheque to the members of Chamber, who called on her to request her to inaugurate the four day event, scheduled to begin from September 21, official sources said.
A host of dignitaries, including members of SIFCC, Federation of Film Employees Association, Tamil Film Producers' Council and South Indian Artists Association called on Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat, the sources said.
The members also invited her to participate in the valedictory function on September 24, which President Pranab Mukherjee is likely to attend.
Commemorating the centenary celebrations, a host of events have been organised across the city.
