: The Tamil Nadu IAS officers Association today strongly condemned the assault on Chief Secretary of Delhi, saying the incident "speaks poorly about the working climate and culture in the state".
Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has alleged that he was assaulted by a few Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs during a meeting at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on the night of February 19.
Tamil Nadu IAS Officers' Association strongly condemns the assault on the Chief Secretary of Delhi at a meeting convened on the midnight of February 19 over a debatable issue that was not in the nature of an emergency, the association President, PWC Davidar said.
The brazen use of muscle power on an unsuspecting senior bureaucrat in the course of official duty and the failure of all those present to prevent or condemn the despicable act "speakly poorly about the working climate and culture for any civil servant in the State", he said in a statement.
Stating that IAS officers were called upon to fulfil the aspirations of the people and legitimate functions of the political executive, he said, the appropriate provisions on the roles and responsibilities of bureaucrats need to be understood which appears not to have happened in Delhi.
"Functioning with dignity and honour is our prerogative and we appeal to all concerned to function in an environment that promotes dignity and honour," he said.
