Nagaraj Sathairaj, hailing from Tamil Nadu, was among the nine persons who sustained injuries when the BMW rammed into their pickup truck ferrying workers last Sunday, The Straits Times reported today.
Nagaraj's condition is stated to be stable, the paper said, adding that he was admitted to the intensive care unit at a hospital here for the head injuries he suffered in the accident.
He had arrived in Singapore only 20 days back.
Nagaraj's family is worried as he has no money, said his uncle Muthukaruppan Ayyanar, who has been working here in construction sector for past 15 years.
"Now he cannot work, so how is he going to pay the agent's fees?" wondered Muthukaruppan.
"I felt so worried when I saw him in hospital. He only spent 20 days here and his family has no money. When I called them, his mother was crying on the phone," Muthukaruppan was quoted as saying by the daily.
Five of the injured workers are also in hospital.
