To arrange money for gifting a luxurious jeep to his sister, a 28-year-old man was arrested with 23 kg of marijuana in outer Delhi's Baprola village, police said today.

The accused, Mohd Vakil, was arrested on July 14, on the basis of a tip-off, they said.

A trap was laid near Dilip Bhawan in outer Delhi's Baprola village to nab him.

After Vakil was seen driving a black Eeco van, the police stopped the vehicle using barricades, but he tried to escape from the spot, police said.

During checking of the vehicle, a sack full of marijuana was found on the front seat of the vehicle, they said.

During interrogation, he revealed that he was indulging in drug peddling for past many years and used to take marijuana from one Roshan, a resident of Bihar, and sell it in retail to various clients.

He had been selling marijuana so that he may be able to arrange money for gifting a Jeep Compass to his younger sister on her wedding in November this year, police said.
